About Family Bible Conference
FBC is an annual Christ-centered summer conference geared towards whole families. It is hosted at the Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock, NC.
Our conference is a time of deep fellowship with family and friends, true growth in God’s Word and faithful equipping so that you might pursue Christ.
Each day will consist of times of morning and evening worship sessions led by different speakers. In between these sessions, you will have various options open to you from excellent teachers who will be focusing on a very practical approach to pursuing faithfulness. There will be various activities throughout the week for fellowship with friends and family along with meaningful downtime for you and your family to grow closer to one another and seek rest.
Our youth, children’s and nursery programs have a tradition of excellence and faithfulness as we serve our covenant children in a way that is meaningful and true.

What will we be learning?
This summer holds a unique opportunity for everyone who attends the Family Bible Conference. I am excited as I begin in the role of Director for our conference–mostly excited because the planning team and committee on camps and conferences has already been hard at work. They have a wonderful summer of camps planned for every ARP and their family (and friends!).
Beyond this, I’m also excited because of what retired minister Tom Shoger recently shared: you can and should take a vacation with a purpose. This year, the theme of our conference will be: Having Full Joy. I wonder if you have found yourself in the middle of a season of life that could be described by the word ‘busy’? I know I have.
Family Bible Conference offers a great time away from the normal busyness of life. However, it is also more important than mere rest as a cessation from work. Much like the tools in a craftsman’s toolbox, we need to have our lives regularly recalibrated. That’s exactly what Family Bible Conference can do for you and your family. Just think about the theme and the teaching from the Upper Room. In the midst of what certainly was one of the busiest weeks for all of history, Jesus stops and rests and shares a meal with his disciples. He did come that his people may have life and have it abundant or full (John 10:10). But he explains that we are to have his joy in us, and it is this joy that will fill our lives, not busyness (John 15:11).

Morning Speaker
DR. CHARLES BARRETT
Charles “Chuck” Barrett was called to Wayside Presbyterian Church (Signal Mtn., TN) in April 2015. He grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, where his father was an Old Testament Professor at Bob Jones University and where Chuck also earned a B.A., M.A. in Theology, and Ph.D. in church history. Before going to Wayside Pres, Chuck served as the Interim President and Professor of Theology at Geneva Reformed Seminary in Greenville and an Assistant Pastor at a local Presbyterian church there.
He loves reading, hiking, kayaking, and cycling. Chuck and his wife, Bridget, have two children. Dr. Barrett is no stranger to the Family Bible Conference. He has previously served with the young people at several of the conferences. We look forward to his return as a keynote speaker.

DR. DEREK W. H. THOMAS
Derek W.H. Thomas, a native of Wales, is the Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic and Pastoral Theology and recently retired as the Senior Minister at First Presbyterian Church (ARP) in Columbia, South Carolina. He previously served as the Chairman of the Theology Department at Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson), the Minister of Teaching at First Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Jackson, Mississippi, and the Robert Strong Professor of Systematic and Pastoral Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary (Atlanta). He is also a Teaching Fellow with Ligonier Ministries and Dean of their D.Min. Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Wales, a Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson), and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wales (Lampeter). He was ordained in the Evangelical Church of Ireland, and served Stranmillis Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Belfast for 17 years before moving to the United States. He has published more than twenty books and contributed to many others.
He and his wife, Rosemary, have two grown children and two grandchildren, two dogs named Luther and Gracie-Spangles, and a somewhat dysfunctional cat named Chloe. He is passionate about classical music and opera.

Registration is open!
Registration will look a little bit different this year. The PLACE where you will register is different. Rather than through CEM, all conference registrations will go through Bonclarken.
Due to increasing demand and the available facilities, we have had to set a cap on how many infants and children can be registered. To this end, registration for the nursery and children’s program will END ON JULY 10th and will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. Please don’t wait!
