What is the Dress (and Swimsuit) Code for Quest and/or Horizon?

In order to promote respect for ourselves and for the opposite sex, clear guidelines with regards to dress have been established for summer conferences. Please review these guidelines as you prepare for the conference and pack accordingly.

Shirts should touch the waistline of shorts/pants/skirts and should cover the stomach and back. Furthermore, shirts should not be tight or low cut. There should be no exposure of cleavage or under-garments (this includes boxer shorts).

Swimsuits must be one piece or abide by the above shirt rule.

Shorts/skirts should be no shorter than fingertip length (When a person is standing up straight with the arms hanging straight down, the hem of their shorts/skirt should be at or below their fingertips).

Clothing should not display sexually suggestive or offensive pictures or words.

Modesty is the key! Respect the conference staff’s decisions concerning the appropriateness of your attire.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”
Ephesians 5:3

Can I bring a cell/mobile phone?

Students should not bring cell/mobile phones or smart watches (or any smart devices unless medically necessary). If parents need to get in contact with their child(ren), make arrangements with your leaders/chaperones for proper channels of communication. Bonclarken’s main office phone number is (828) 692-2223. Individual church groups will be in charge of enforcing this policy.

What does “lights out” mean?

It’s time to be in your lodging and go to sleep. By “lights out” you have accomplished everything you need to do (shower, brush teeth, finished a conversation, etc.) in order for your head to hit the pillow and fall asleep. Students are not to leave their lodging after “lights out.”

Do I have to do everything on the Schedule?

Students are expected to attend all large group (at Amphitheater and YAB locations) and seminar sessions. Students can participate as desired in afternoon activities and tournaments.

What if I (or my child) have food allergies?

Please contact Bonclarken directly with food needs. They do their best to accommodate dietary issues.

What does a typical day at Quest or Horizon look like?
Do I need to bring any money?

Bonclarken has a gift shop and people love to snack at the Nibble Nook and Back Porch!

Also, some groups may go off site during Family Day on Thursday. This can include trips to nearby Hendersonville where there is shopping available.
